Asension's Electronic Warfare Capabilities Aligned with AUKUS Pillar 2
Asension, with our strong Defence heritage, is committed to advancing Australia's national defence capabilities. Our expertise in cognitive electronic warfare, spectrum monitoring and interference 'hunting’ systems uniquely positions us to contribute to the Australian Information Warfare Alliance (A IW Alliance). This collaborative effort aims to deliver end-to-end Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, Electronic Warfare (ISREW), and cyber solutions to the Australian Defence Force. In alignment with AUKUS Pillar 2's objectives, Asension is poised to deliver next-generation technologies that enhance joint capabilities and interoperability between allied nations.
AUKUS Pillar 2 Objectives
The AUKUS agreement between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States focuses on strengthening allied security in the Indo-Pacific region. Pillar 2 of the AUKUS framework concentrates on enhancing joint capabilities, including cyber capabilities, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, hypersonic, counter-hypersonic capabilities, and electronic warfare.
Electronic Warfare: Asension's Core Competency
In today's increasingly contested and congested electromagnetic spectrum, the importance of robust electronic warfare capabilities cannot be overstated. Asension’s cognitive EW systems, such as the Wombat Smart Sensor Suite and the Miniaturised Orbital EW Sensor System, use the Asension RF Engine ™ to draw meaning from vast sets of data through user selected applications. These applications operate on the edge thereby reducing both network bandwidth and user cognitive load by tailoring outputs to user’s requirements. These technologies directly contribute to AUKUS Pillar 2's mandate to improve electronic warfare capabilities.
Innovation and Interoperability
Asension's software interface and applications, such as the Wombat Spectral application, enable seamless integration and interoperability with allied systems. This falls in line with AUKUS's focus on fostering deeper integration of security and defence-related science, technology, and industrial bases.
We are investing in advanced cyber capabilities to protect critical communications and operation systems, fulfilling one of the key workstreams of AUKUS Pillar 2. Our platforms are designed with inherent cybersecurity measures to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data.
Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy
Asension is pioneering the integration of Artificial Intelligence into our cognitive electronic warfare systems to find faster ways to de-interleave, classify and identify emitters by looking at the data in new ways. This initiative is aligned with AUKUS Pillar 2’s objective to accelerate the adoption of autonomous and AI-enabled systems in contested environments.
Our commitment to transparency and collaboration has made us a valuable partner in information-sharing initiatives, another core workstream of AUKUS Pillar 2. Asension's technology is designed to facilitate secure data sharing among allied nations, contributing to joint capabilities and interoperability.
Asension’s electronic warfare capabilities are not only an integral part of Australia's defence landscape but also contribute to the wider objectives outlined in AUKUS Pillar 2. By focusing on electronic warfare, cyber capabilities, artificial intelligence, and information sharing, Asension is at the forefront of technologies that will secure a safer future for the Indo-Pacific region and allied nations.
